Just regarding anyone who knows they snore has in all probability tried to prevent snoring before and dispose of this dreaded habit. Not solely for themselves, except for different people who wake up and lose valuable rest as a result of of the noise. The problem is, snoring isn't voluntary, it's an involuntary action. This does not mean that everyone can stop snoring, but there are ways in which to treat many totally different of the causes that build many individuals snore. There are various stop snoring remedies available.
The most medical explanation for snoring that has been ascertained is that the airway in your throat constricts (shrinks) and so your body isn't getting enough air once you sleep. Snoring is your body's means of trying to naturally atone for the number of air it is not getting.
There are a number of ways that to stop snoring the natural and the factitious way. Let us list some of the foremost common ways of stopping snoring -
o Change of Lifestyle - This includes some things which you may be doing daily but don't notice that this may be affecting your snoring. One can strive out the following which might bring concerning a bit of amendment -
1. Losing Weight - Fat will build around the face and neck space, inflicting pressure in the respiratory passages. Obtaining rid of the extra fat in this area will open up the airway and scale back the snoring and let the body breathe freely.
2. Halt on smoking - Snoring will occur because the respiratory system is broken or irritated. Smoking adds to it and makes the condition even worse and heightens the problem.
3. Ease Respiratory problems - Nasal congestion will create breathing through the nose nearly impossible, since it clogs the passage. Allergy sufferers might breathe through their mouths, inflicting snoring problems.
4. Avoid alcohol. Alcoholic beverages have a sedative impact for the first few hours, but you're more likely to wake during the night. Snoring could occur as a result of the muscles in the neck and jaw are too relaxed and the central nervous system is depressed, therefore alcohol aggravates the problem.
o Positioning - The position that you select for sleeping is of great importance when it involves your tendency to snore. Sleeping on your back will aggravate the condition. Sleeping on your aspect could be the proper position for a quiet night of rest.
o Medical Treatment - Snorers will benefit from some medical interventions as well as devices and surgery. An ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist and a dentist can be of nice assistance in finding ways to stop snoring. An ENT specialist can determine if the snoring is caused by obstructions within the nasal cavity or by alternative issues in the ears, nose or throat. So if you haven't consulted your dentist or ENT then you recognize when to require the subsequent appointment
Listed higher than were some of the common ways that to stop snoring. Beneath extreme cases one may have to bear surgery, where surgeons remove any additional fat or tissue that might be aggravating snoring.
One has to see the reason for snoring before one will act. Thus once you are done with finding the cause then stopping snoring isn't as powerful as presumed to be. One has to have self-discipline to try and do it. Don't look ahead for a lot of stop snoring remedies, act now.

QUESTION:
Snoring remedies?
I'm a chick, and after gaining a lot of weight, I snore. I know losing weight is the BEST thing to do, and I am currently working on that, but in the meantime....Which OTC remedies work best?
**I sleep on my side to try and prevent the snoring, but my boyfriend says it's obviously not working. *lol* When I'm on my back, I actually seem to have sleep apnea. (I don't have insurance at this time)
-
ANSWER:
Hi,
OSA (apnea) is a very dangerous condition. I advise you to look it up on the Net. As we gain weight. Our airways are more prone to collapsing under the increased pressure. I hear what you're saying about not having insurance. I strongly advise you to follow up on this when you do again. For now, you could try nasal strips. You get them @sporting goods shops. They apply across the top of your nose. "Pulling" the nares open from the outside. Oral airways (dental appliance) cost about 0... C-PAP are even more bucks. Losing the weight is cheap, & pays other dividends. Good Luck.

QUESTION:
Snoring - Methods or Remedies To Stop or Minimise it?
Hi all out there. Any advice or remedies to stop or minimise snoring besides surgery, medication or devices?
Thanks.-
ANSWER:
snoring is caused by obstructionfor years i often woke up in the middle of a sleep with my heart pounding and feeling like I was suffocating, which I was and chest pain and sometimes severe headache I'm lucky i didn't have a stroke
for me I also didn't want devices, meds or surgery
keep your airway straight when you sleep this means do not use a pillow more than about two inches thick never have your head proped up on a pillow no matter if you are sleeping on your side or back
avoid sleeping on your back, sleep on your side with a thin pillow and tuck your chin up to make your airway open and in time it will become a habit in your sleep as well
don't wear anything around your neck that is tight or even close to tight
keep the temperature cool and use a cool mist ultrasonic humidifyer if needed
also brush your teeth and gums and tongue before going to bed makeing sure your mouth is good and clean
don't take sleeping pills or antihistimes before going to bed
do use your prescription inhalers as prescribed when I told my doctor the albuterol helped me more taken right before bed he prescribed it that way
if your mouth is really dry use a saliva substitue they are over the counter and you have to just try each one finding which one is the best for you
don't smoke and if you do don't smoke at least four hours before bed
if you have GERD make sure you are taking care of it well by not eating at least 4 hours before bed and taking any meds prescribed for your GERD
GERD makes apnea worse and apnea makes GERD worse
thin pillow, sleep on side, keep airway (throat) straight, room cool, mouth clean, no eating or drinking at least 4 hours before bed, no sleeping pills or antihistimes good luck

QUESTION:
What are some snoring remedies ?
Sorry just that my dad keeps snoring and he knows that snoring could cause him in the sleeping dieasease called sleep apnea and hes getting worried so he wanted me to ask this question.Anyways he doesnt really feel like spending money so like home rememdies and like the kind of matierials you can get from stores.Hope you can help-
ANSWER:
-If you're overweight, lose weight. Being overweight is a common cause of snoring. Loose throat tissues are more likely to vibrate as you breathe, and extra bulkiness in the throat narrows your airway.
-Sleep on your side. Lying on your back allows your tongue to fall backward into your throat, narrowing your airway and partially obstructing airflow. To prevent sleeping on your back, try sewing a tennis ball in the back of your pajama top.
-Nasal strips. Adhesive strips applied to your nose help many people increase the area of their nasal passage, enhancing their breathing.
-Treat nasal congestion or obstruction. Having allergies or a deviated septum can limit airflow through your nose. This forces you to breathe through your mouth, increasing the likelihood of snoring. Don't use an oral or spray decongestant for more than three days in a row.
-Limit or avoid alcohol and sedatives. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages at least four hours before bedtime, and let your doctor know about your snoring before taking sedatives or hypnotics. Sedatives and hypnotics (sleeping pills) and alcohol depress your central nervous system, causing excessive relaxation of muscles, including the tissues in your throat. In addition, if you stop breathing due to obstructive sleep apnea, it may take longer for you to begin breathing again because alcohol, sedatives and hypnotics blunt the brain's ability to arouse from sleep

QUESTION:
Anyone know of any remedies for drooling and/or snoring?
Home remedies would obviously be the preference rather than a doctor making you pay so much for prescriptions. Just curious to know if anyone has stopped thier drooling while sleeping and possibly their snoring,... if at the least reduced it.
Anyone?-
ANSWER:
Breathe Right Nasal Strips work great for snoring, but below is some more information I found at http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/tc/Snoring-Home-TreatmentLosing weight. Many people who snore are overweight. Weight loss can help reduce the narrowing of the airway and possibly reduce or eliminate snoring.
Limiting the use of alcohol and medications. Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol or taking certain medications, especially sleeping pills or tranquilizers, before sleep may worsen snoring.
Going to bed at the same time each night and getting plenty of sleep. Snoring may be more frequent when you have not had enough sleep.
Sleeping on your side. Sleeping on your side may eliminate snoring. Try sewing a pocket in the middle of the back of your pajama top, putting a tennis ball into the pocket, and stitching it closed. This will help keep you from sleeping on your back.
Promptly treating breathing problems. Breathing problems caused by colds or allergies can disturb airflow, leading to snoring.
Using nasal strips. Nasal strips, such as Breathe Right, widen the nostrils and improve airflow.
I could not find any information on drooling while sleeping.
Hope this helps.

Snoring remedies for men?
My wretched boyfriend keeps me awake at night with his snoring. It sounds like he is trying to suck the light fittings off the wall. I know very well that if he didn't drink in the evenings it wouldn't be as bad but he won't listen. Has anyone used anti-snore aids successfully? I was going to buy him some of those snore-strip things that stick onto your nose. Do they work? (Remedies have to be available in the UK)As you can tell, I'm quite fed-up - so no sillyness please!
Thanks
-
ANSWER:
Snoring can be caused by sinus or by soft tissues in the back of the throat.Since he drinks that soft tissue relaxes more and he snores more loudly. He's a future candidate for Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
Nothing will help this but medical treatment. Strips won't make a difference since they work to open the sinus passages.

QUESTION:
Anyone have any remedies for snoring?
My husband has a major problem with snoring. It never used to bother me before, but our daughter sleeps in the same room as we do. It's not his snoring that wakes her, it's when he stops. I don't understand it. He'll stop, then start again, and she'll wake up a lil, wanting her bottle. Any suggestions? Btw, I don't and will not consider putting her in another room. I'm hoping we'll find something to help his snoring.-
ANSWER:
It depends on the cause of his snoring i guess.. If it's just the angle he tilted his while sleeping or its because he sleeps with his mouth opened, which signifies breathing difficulties, try the "breatheright" sticker available in pharmacies.. Its like a very firm band-aid sticked on the nose which kinda stretches the nostrils to ease breathing. In my case, i have sinus so breatheright wont work. i fix it with a nasal spray before i go to bed given to me by the doctor.

I have tried to the nose strips, the throat sprays, sleeping on my side, and anything thing else I can think of....my boyfriend HATES it and we think I might have real medical issue, but I would like to try herbs before going to an ENT doctor.-
ANSWER:
Chronic Sleep Apnea. Or whatever the right term is will not be solved by any medicine, natural or synthetic. Your solution consists of:1. Wear a head brace. It straps your jaw shut which relieves your air passage.
2. Sleep on your side. It again relieves the passage.
3. Surgery.
4. Use a breathing machine. It basically rams air down your throat for you so you don't have to struggle to suck it in.
Basically, besides keeping others awake, your being sleep deprived. It makes you die younger, among other things.
5. On last method is that like plastic u-shaped clamp that goes in your nostrils. It works for some people who's problem is not too severe.
When you go to sleep, relax ALL of your muscles, especially in your neck. If you then snore in order to inhale, then change positions. Keep experimenting until you've found a position that does not force you to snore. Usually you'll have to sleep on your side.
If you doctor perscribes clinical observation, your HMO should pay for it.
But sorry, it's not something that can be dealt with with medicine.

QUESTION:
Snoring remedies and cures..?
basically my boyfriend has this problem and I really want to do something about it
So are any good snoring cures that you used..?-
ANSWER:
Research has shown that a whopping one in four people suffer from snoring. If that weren't amazing enough, most of those afflicted believe there is nothing to be done for their condition. They don't realize that a good night's sleep is within their grasp. Some people are giving a new product called Snorezip a try, and are having great results.Snorezip was developed to increase oxygen flow and reduce mucus. When oxygen flow is increased and mucus reduced, it has been proven that the incidence of snoring will also be greatly reduced, if not eliminated. This product may be just the thing to get those afflicted with snoring on the road to a restful sleep.
Snoring is not just an annoying habit, but can seriously threaten your health. Doctors claim that patients who snore are more likely to be fatigued, and are more susceptible to life threatening conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Snoring also increases the incidence of high blood pressure and metabolic syndrome. Snorezip, with its proven record of reducing incidence of snoring could help reduce this risk.
SnoreZip is very affordable and easy to use. Most snoring remedies involve the use of uncomfortable masks that must be worn at night. The sheer discomfort of these masks is enough to make most sufferers abandon such a program long before there is any benefit. Since SnoreZip is administered as an oral spray, there's no excuse not to give it a try. Just spray SnoreZip into your mouth before you go to bed, and you could be minutes away from a good night's sleep!
Check the source link below to get a free trial and get rid of snoring. From what i've heard it really works and you can really sleep better.

ANSWER:
There is a product called 'breath rite nasal strips.' They are applied directly to the surface of the nose and they hold the nares open thereby allowing a greater flow of air to move in and out. As to the weight loss. It is proven that when a person is unable to breath properly and loses even one hour of sleep the level of leptin in their body decreases significantly. This is important because leptin is the hormone that gives you the feeling of fullness. The less you sleep or the less well you sleep the lower the leptin levels in the blood will be. As a result you will be hungrier and will as a result eat more. You might also what to talk to a doctor about having a sleep study done to see if you have any other sleep problems that might be diagnosed as a result. You sooner that you are sleeping a full eight hours uninterrupted every night the sooner you will start losing weight.

Snoring remedies? PLEASE help, 10 pts best answer!!?
In the last year, my boyfriend has started snoring!! It is SO ANNOYING. Snoring is one of my pet peeves and I absolutely cannot stand it when he does it. Last night his snoring woke me up in the middle of the night and I could not go back to sleep for 2 hours because of the noise!!!Does anyone know any products that will reduce snoring that ACTUALLY WORK? (from experience)
Please let me know if you have any suggestions. It makes me not want to sleep in the same room as my boyfriend but that would really suck
-
ANSWER:
Well, I really feel ya cause my husband has an awful problem. It drove me so nuts and it threatened our marriage. So here's what I've found in my desperation:
Snore strips help about 80% or more of the time. Sometimes they come off but seriously, they have saved our marriage. you can get them at any drug store and they go over the bridge of his nose.
If he is willing there is a chin strap snore device out there, but I haven't tried it and it just looks so gimpy my husband doesn't want it either. They are like 60$ so the snore strips are better.
Also, a liver cleanse helps too. Milk thistle or Turmeric.

QUESTION:
What is the best stop snoring home remedy?
I have had problems my whole life with snoring, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for the best stop snoring home remedy. It's really been bothering me recently, and I want it to stop already! Any help would be appreciated.-
ANSWER:
You really should see your doctor and be tested for sleep apnea or nasal or throat polyps, or sinus troubles. Some things to try at home:
1. the nasal strips (Breathe Right is a brand name). Those can help with snoring and for nasal congestion.
2. Don't sleep on your back. My husband snores, but i've noticed it doesn't happen if he is sleeping on his side. Prop with pillows to keep yourself from rolling onto your back.
3. Raise the head of your bed up on blocks.
4. Lose weight. If you have a thick neck, that will partially block your airway and cause snoring.
5. Get more rest. My hubby tends to snore when he is more tired than usual.
6. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids. At night mucous membranes dry out and could lead to snoring. And again, see your doctor to be checked.

Snoring Question: looking for remedies?
I snore pretty badly at night and was wondering if anyone had some out-of-the box ideas to help this problem. I am open to trying any kind of natural remedies as well.
I have already tried with little to no success the following: Saline nasal spray, various types of breath right strips, and some "natural snoring tablet", which I assume was a placebo.I have looked into what types of surgical procedures are available, and they all seem to have mixed results
If anyone could offer any advice, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
-
ANSWER:
Snoring is one of those things that can be a problem for you and the people around you. If you want to stop snoring, it is important to consider the cause and severity of your snoring. Identifying the cause can help you choose the right cure.
It makes sense to try some simple non-invasive treatments first to see if they'll reduce or prevent your snoring. Here are some of those non-invasive tips to stop the snoring:
• sleep on your side - there's a higher change of snoring if you lie on your back, and sleeping on your stomach will kill your neck.
• keep a regular sleep schedule - and make sure you get enough sleep, many people snore only when they are overly tired
• elevate your head when sleeping - you can increase the angle of your bed by raising the head of the bed or use pillows to your upper body, don't just raise your head that'll put more pressure on your air way and have the opposite effect.
• avoid alcohol and tranquillizers - they basically cause the muscles of your jaw and throat to relax, increasing your changes of snoring.
• Treat your allergies - if your nose is stuffy it may force you to breathe through your mouth when sleeping. If your nose is stuffed I recommend using a netie pot, the are incredibly effective, natural and pretty cheap to.
• buy a mouth guard - mouth guards will keep your jaw muscles from relaxing too much, and prevent snoring. It may not be too attractive to your significant other but it'll help you both get some sleep!
• Lose weight - when you're heavier the extra weight puts pressure on your airway, causing snoring.
• if you smoke try to stop - smoking damages your respiratory system, which doesn't help in the snoring departmentExcessive snoring may also mean you have a more serious problem like sleep apnea.
If you wake up with a headache, are extremely tired during the day, don't feel refreshed when you wake up, have trouble concentrating or a very low attention span, or wake up during the night choking and gasping for breath you should probably see a doctor.
Mild snoring that isn't related to sleep apnea responds well to home remedies. Finding a cure for your snoring problem can result in an improved quality of life for you and your loved ones.
An effective and pretty simple solution is doing throat exercises, here's a website with interesting information on the snoring exercises: http://www.thestopsnoringexerciseprogram.com/?hop=4safetynow

Severe snoring is often related to a condition called sleep apnea. Homeopathy is an excellent resource. Sleep apnea is not considered a self-help first-aid and acute care problem, though, so you'd have to consult with a certified homeopath for constitutional strengthening.Everyone's answers together are true, so maybe one will help you. Based on what I've seen people try, I'd vote for what helped Magdalena's husband. Or, sleep in another room.

ANSWER:
Drink a cup of milk before going to bed. Many people feast on dairy products like cheese or drink a glass of milk just before sleeping. As a result, mucus production is higher in those people suffering from intolerance. Eliminating dairy can deal with your snoring problem. You will have to make up for vitamins and nutrients that you would have otherwise obtained from dairy. Also remember that eliminating dairy from your diet will not immediately reduce your snoring. It may require about a month to observe any effects.http://tips-to-stop-snoring.com/2008/05/11/home-remedies-for-snoring/

QUESTION:
Does anyone have any remedies to stop snoring??
My husband snores loudly every night which makes it difficult for me to try to get some sleep. He has tried the nose strips and they didn't work for him at all. Any other suggestions?-
ANSWER:
Something that has worked for me in the past is simply waking her up a few times and telling her to stop snoring. I learned this from her cause when I snored she would hit me, and after that I would go back to sleep and not snore anymore, maybe sub-consciously I knew but something wouldnt let me snore in my sleep. No I wasnt scared in my sleep to snore but after being hit (small little slaps on the arm) then I knew I was annoying her and somehow I just would stop, try it. Just wake him and tell him to stop in a monotone voice.Either that or get used to it, I lived in a ghetto Puerto Rican neighborhood in Rochester N.Y. (Clinton Ave.) for one Summer and Ricans love to party, the first week nights I couldnt sleep but eventually I got used to it. I am black so I am not telling a racist story my point is that you should just get used to it and learn to sleep through it. Either that or find another bed to sleep, also you could plug your ears.

Are there any non-surgical ways to stop snoring?
My boyfriend has been spending every weekend at my house for the past 3 months. This would be great, except for the fact that he snores obnoxiously loud to the point where I can't get any sleep. Are there any remedies to stop snoring? I hate not being able to sleep next to him.-
ANSWER:
He should see an MD-he might have sleep apnea. If this is the case, he needs to wear a C-PAP machine at night. The snoring will stop.
