Learn How To Cure Sleep Apnea

Sleepapnea

Sleep apnea is a very serious disease. Many people suffer from a mild form of this disease, and they probably are not aware of it. Sleep apnea is a condition that restricts breathing when you are sleeping. The most basic symptom of this condition, and the most mild form that most people suffer from, is snoring. If your snoring is a constant problem, you might want to get checked out before it gets any worse.

Sleep apnea can be deadly if it does not get properly diagnosed. However, once it is diagnosed, it can be treated fairly easily. Two of the most common ways of treating this condition are with BiPAP and CPAP breathing machines. The CPAP is the more popular form.

CPAP stands for continual positive airflow pressure. This device, basically, helps you breathe. The CPAP concentrates mainly on the inhale breath. This means that it continually puts pressure on the amount of air that you inhale. This added pressure makes the airflow naturally through your constricted passages making it easier for you to breathe. These machines have many features, and have become quite advanced. They can even run off of a cigarette lighter so you can take road trips.

The BiPAP machine works very similar to the CPAP breathing machines but instead of concentrating solely on the inhale, the BiBAP machine helps you to exhale as well. This machine is typically used by people who suffer from sleep apnea, but also from a heart condition.

BiPAP and CPAP breathing machines are only used by people who have severe cases of sleep apnea. If you suffer from a mild form of the condition, you can probably solve the problem at home. You should still talk to your doctor, however, to get thier expert opinion.

like a flash animation or a flash game... realplayer doesn't work... how can it be downloaded?

    • ANSWER:

  2. QUESTION:
Does the "Makers Diet" really help???
Okay....my aunt has a LOT of medical problems...she has:

High Blood Pressure, SleepApnea,GERDS, Fibromyalgia,Major Depression, Arthiritis, Anxiety Disorders, PCOD, PTSD, Endometriosis, Allergies, Interstitial Cystitiis, Asthma,Restrictive Lung,

And about 10 other things wrong with her...she is VERY sick, has seen more doctors that ANYONE should ever have to, and is MISERABLE!!!! I have heard about the "Maker's Diet". Would this diet help cure her? Or if not "cure" her...would it help her ANY?

    Please help!!!

    • ANSWER:
Yes,I have some of those problems too,and I went on the "Makers Diet".I haven't had any more problems with allergies and I do feel better as far as arthritis goes.I think the diet is very helpful because you rid your body of alot of toxins. The first phase of the diet seems very constrictive, but you add more foods to each phase, then it's supposed to be a way of life. It's definitly worth a try, because something she eats and or drinks every day might be the culprit of some of her problems.

  3. QUESTION:
really need advise. Please help a little long but desparate for an answer. appreciate your time so much?
I am on a forum trying to get help for various sleep related disorders (primarily sleepapnea and periodic limb disorder)that have lead to many syptoms like depession and about 15 other things

When I went to the site about two weeks ago for the first time and was contemp[lating suicide (I am OK now) due to this and a number of other things, people were helpful. I started a thred about people sharing what they have learned from alternative and natural therapies that people might want to research, try, or use to compliment their treatment.

I immediately started getting attacked but about 5 people, When they started criticising my intelligence, spelling, character traits and tons of things in a very cruel and mean way, I stuck up for myself and now they seem madder than ever in their vigilence to attack me.

I eventually told them I was very vulnerable, dealing with a lot of personal problems, crying from their posts,. and essentially begging them to stop and if they didn't
believe in natural health to please go to any of the thousands of other threads and stop harassing me or go to the 1999 thast don't discuss this topi if it bothers them. A few are only posting on my thread and one even is personal messaging his hateful talk.

I would like advice on what is behind this, how to get it too stop and how to gwet the thread back on topic. Also how to help myself not respond which I am attempting to do but it's hard and not let it get to me. I have learned more in 2 weeks on this website than in 15 years and my doctors and for the first time I feel real ho[pe I may get some of these disorders that have ruined mtyy life for about 25 years so I don't want to leave. I feel like they are trying to chase me away and upset me though they turn it around and say they weren't bashing just before they bash or say essentially leave if you don't like it--we will continue.

Advice badly needed as it is REALLY starting to get me down as it triggers memories of the
of the constant criticism my family gives and I even found myself thinking..maybe they are all right and I am an awful person. I know I am not being told I have a heart or gold and am nice by hundreds of people but the fact I even thought that scared me to see how much I am letting them affect me. people initiaslly told me how understanding and nice people on there were (there are a lot of people on it)
what is with people who kick opeople when they are already down?
sorry for spelling errors..typing too fast.

    • ANSWER:
If you are learning from and getting real help from this site then you need it, and so you need to find a way to use that without being hurt by the negative stuff.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of mean, emotionally ugly people in this world and it seems like most of them have internet access. Also, they're even meaner on the internet because it takes zero courage to be nasty when you don't have to look the other person in the face. Maybe they're people with depressive problems like yourself, trying to make themselves feel better, bringing themselves up by tearing other people down.

The 'easy' answer is to just ignore them. They're obviously not good people, and what they think of you has nothing to do with you and isn't important. But I've been depressed before in my life and I know how impossible it can be not to feel pushed down by other people's negativity when you're feeling so much negativity of your own.

You need to absolutely forbid yourself from answering them. Even if they hurt you, don't say anything to them either in posts or in PMs. That's the first step. There's no need or reason to defend yourself, and it seems that the more you do the worse they get.

Does the board have a way to block/censor specific users? Have you complained to the moderators? If not, is there anyway to get a friend, parent, significant other, someone to (if it wouldn't bother your sense of privacy) read the board before you do and maybe cut and paste the good stuff into documents for you and leave the bad stuff out where you never have to see it or know it exists?

I hope you can find a solution soon. They're not worth your pain, you deserve support and help, and it's totally part of your healing process to learn to walk past the nasty people on your way to what's good for you. Even though that's easier said than done, it will get done. Hang in there.

  4. QUESTION:
    Snoring...?
What do you do to stop somebody from snoring. My brother told me this technique people use to make people stop snoring, but won't tell me what it is. Can someone here tell me what it is? or perhaps some factual ones? don't need any sleepapnea comments here. just some techniques.

    • ANSWER:
Sometimes, if you turn them over on their side, it helps for a little while. Or put a lumpy pillow in their back to make them sleep on their side always. If they snore really badly, they may need to see a doctor about sleep apnea.

  5. QUESTION:
    Could I have sleep apnea?
Hi. I'm a 16 year old male. Im around 6'1 and weigh around 220 lbs. Recently I came across a video that shows you how to go into sleep paralysis or something like that..where you basically let your body fall asleep while your mind is awake. He briefly stated that this is a way to find out if you have sleep apnea.
So I tried the method he suggested and what I noticed is was when I was in this state..I would stop breathing (which is what he described sleep apnea to be) and not notice for around 5 seconds in which I would realize that I wasn't breathing.

I wasn't sure if I was just making stuff up in my mind so I looked further into sleep apnea. After reading the symptons it really started to get me thinking that i might suffer sleep apnea..
Im always tired in the day. Even if I go to bed at around 10 PM and wake up at 6AM (8 hrs rest..that seems good) i feel pretty tired..usualy throughout the whole day. Also I read that it occurs more to overweight people (I am some overweight, not obese though).
the website which i got the information from was http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/SleepApnea/SleepApnea_WhatIs.html

Do you think it is possible for me to have sleep apnea? alot of these symptoms sound similar to mine..yet i don't think i snore too much (which seems to be a big one)

    • ANSWER:
It is possible to have sleep apnea at a young age. Many people do not know about it until they live with a partner that alerts them to it. The best way to find out if you do or not is to request a sleep study from your doctor. That is how my husband found out about his sleep apnea, I heard him stop breathing then gasping in his sleep. He now has a CPAP machine that assists his breathing and allows him to get quality sleep. You also may ask your family members if they have a problem, as it often is common in families. It is also more common with people with thicker necks.

  6. QUESTION:
    Interesting article about sleep apnea?
Just trying to make a point so please don't report this question.

People are always wondering why they can't get to sleep and true exercise may help but here is a very interesting site about sleep apnea:

    http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/SleepApnea/SleepApnea_WhatIs.html

On the left panel to the article there are also signs and symptoms as well as treatment etc.
ah but maz you aren't really fully rested if you can't sleep correctly one would think..and it could perhaps under certain stresses cause sleeping problems.

plus the night relieving of the bladder doesn't sound to well rested.
well if you had read it can affect any one even if you aren't overweight..

    • ANSWER:
Thanks I may need this article one day and why would anyone report you?

  7. QUESTION:
Tooth975 this is a direct follow on from my last question about opening spaces upper and (maybe) lower?
Thank you for answering that last question so fast i really do appreciate it.

Its just that I was looking at this 'http://hockel.com/SleepApnea.html' (number 3)

and the guys lower jaw doesn't look like it moved at all, instead his bottom lip has just been pushed out more by the bottom teeth making his chin look smaller. (Maybe they didn't do it the same as a functional ortho would though?)

I was also under the impression that the further forward you're lower jaw is the more protected your tmj would be and the better you're jaw would look. (thats why i was asking about just bringing uppers forward)

    • ANSWER:
You need to let your functional orthodontist do the thinking. As I stated in my previous answer, it is not all about moving mandibles forward indiscriminately. There is a physiologic limit and there is an ideal amount and that is whatever it takes to align the lower jaw to the proper skeletal landmarks of the maxilla. Your assumption is not all correct as there are limits.

  8. QUESTION:
    Snoring...?
What do you do to stop somebody from sleeping. My brother told me this technique people use to make people stop snoring, but won't tell me what it is. Can someone here tell me what it is? or perhaps some factual ones? don't need any sleepapnea comments here. just some techniques.

    • ANSWER:
what do you mean you do not need any sleep apnea comment here?? that is what snoring is. some times it can be a major health issue for the person who is snoring. your brain does not get enough oxygen and it could cause a stroke, memory loss, loss of concentration, there are a lot of very real, and very dangerous things caused by snoring. If you talk to a doctor about it there are things that they can do to help. I actually had surgery to improve my situation. This is more than just an inconvenience to who ever has to share the room you sleep in this needs to be checked by a doctor. Other than that there are thousands of "Stop snoring aids" on any drug store shelf. You just have to try a few thousand before you find one that will work for you. different people have different causes for snoring, and you just have to figure out what is causing it before you can do anything about it. part of my personal problem was that my tonsils and adenoids were so large that when I went to sleep and my muscles would relax they would drop into my airway and choke me. That is where the noise came from, but it was also why I had not been feeling like I had slept even if I had been in bed for 10 hrs or more. It cuts off the oxygen to the brain. I really cannot stress to you how important it is to get this looked at by a doctor. Good luck You are really going to need it if you do not see a doctor.
