Are there evenings when you feel that your baby's sleeping patterns will never be regulated? Can you imagine a time when your baby will sleep long enough for the two of you to feel refreshed and rested? Parents know that there is no way to avoid the occasional night in the nursery rocker, but how can we keep those nights with baby sleeping very little or not at all to a bare minimum?
So exactly how do you get a baby to sleep through the night? First, manage your expectations. Every baby is different. Every family is different. So the method that worked for me may not work for you, and vice versa.
And what worked for your first child may not work for a second one either. I hate to break it to you, but just because you've already had one kid doesn't mean that you've got parenting all figured out. EVERY kid is different, even when it comes to sleep.
At first, the need to feed outweighs the need to sleep. Many pediatricians suggest that parents do not allow their newborn to sleep too long without feeding. In other words, they suggest that you feed your baby every three to four hours. You may even need to do so more often if your baby is smaller or was born premature. Infants that are breastfed will become hungry more quickly than those who are bottle-fed.
When you are sleep deprived and can hardly keep your eyes open the last thing you want to hear is that you will have to wait a year or more for relief. Some desperate moms have even questioned why there are sleeping pills for grownups and no baby sleeping aids or remedies. I believe in the natural approach to parenting whenever possible, but I have to admit succumbing to panic due to exhaustion myself.
For an infant, establishing a daily routine to include set nap times will contribute a great deal towards getting your baby to sleep through the night. Your baby must be taught that short periods of sleep are for daytime and longer periods of sleep are for night time.
Every mother's process for relaxing her baby is unique, there is no definite set of rules for what should be involved. Whatever your baby sleeping routine works out to be; stick to it. Try not to vary from it from day to day. The best way to an ideal baby sleep routine, relies on mom having a routine.
You will have a calmer and more confident child if you are so predictable that baby always knows exactly what happens next.Develop routines that work for you and your baby. Try setting up your day in a way that leads toward you and baby sleeping through the night. Try giving your baby a routine so that he or she will know it's time to settle down. Both types of routine are great techniques that can get you a bit closer to solving the baby sleep problem in your house!

QUESTION:
anyone know good home remedies for sleep apnea?
And can this condition be treated?-
ANSWER:
The "gold-treatment" for sleep apnea is cpap therapy, but if you have a moderate breathing disorder, you can try the next behavioral therapy:* try sleeping on your side rather than sleeping on your back as it can produces loud snores because of blockages.
* elevate the head when you sleep. This measure can alleviate snoring and make breathing easier.
* Use an air humidifier at nighttime to make the air moister.
* don't smoke for at leas several hours prior to bedtime. Doing so, the smoke can cause the airways to tighten in the neck, worsening sleep apnea.
* maintain regular sleep hours. In my case, I had to quit my shift work job, to have a normal sleep.
* use a nasal dilator, saline nasal spray or breathe right strips to help open nasal passages.
Remember that this remedies are not so effective like cpap machine or dental devices. Weight Loss is also very efficient.
All you need is motivation.
I hope it helps!

QUESTION:
got any good home remedies for sleep apnea?
well do ya?
cannot afford any type of medical care. That's why I'm here...and don't get me started on the politics of it all
-
ANSWER:
Lose weight, avoid alcohol, and quit smoking.
Sleeping in a recliner with your upper body elevated helps too.
Maybe you could find a used CPAP or BPAP machine on e-bay or craigslist but you need a prescription so probably not.

QUESTION:
Any home remedy for sleep apnea?I am a 37 male, 290 lbs, snorer.
sorry, I meant 190 lbs.-
ANSWER:
Sleep apnea is very dangerous, it can cause serious heart problems along with a host of other problems. I am not sure in which order you would go in but from my experience, I was told by my family that I snore too loud and I kept waking up choking. I saw my family doc and she ordered a sleep study. That next week I found out that I had Obstructive Sleep Apnea and that I need to see an ENT doc (ear, nose, & throat). He told me that the cause of my sleep apnea was an enlarged uvula with is the little punching bag in the back of my throat. My options were to have a CPAP machine and if I could not tolerate that, then I would have a UPPP. Some people have a large tongue and they need to have some of it shaved off and others may need their tonsils taken out. It all depends on the person, but my advice to you would be to go see the doc asap because it just gets worse over time. Good Luck!

QUESTION:
Since husbands and wives usually sleep in the same bed, I'm hoping someone may have a solution for this?
I often sleep over at my FWB's house and we have to be up at 3am so he can get ready to go to work and drop me off at home. The problem is not that he snores (I don't mind that at all) it's that he has sleep apnea. Every time he stops breathing it jolts me awake, I give him a shove and he starts breathing again. Needless to say, I'm not getting much sleep! I like sleeping over, I'm just wondering if there are any "home" remedies for this? I've tried encouraging him to see a doctor and he always says he will, but doesn't. This can't be good for his health...so, any ideas?
FWB= Friend with benefits...I have no say in making him an appointment.
Mother's Milk...I'm used to M&D...I'm in here taunting on a regular basis myself...lol
Answer Dude, you know, with 3 men in my past dead now, you'd think I'd be in a will at some point.....hasn't happened yet-

QUESTION:
Husband's snoring is driving me NUTS!?
He had his nose broken when he was little (parents never got it fixed), he's ALWAYS snoring (even when he's laying on his side). Those breathe right strips don't work and he won't go to the doctors for a mouth guard. Are there any home remedies I can get him to try that will work? It is making it IMPOSSIBLE to sleep, and I'm a heavy sleeper. Plus if he sleeps on his side he gets sleep apnea. He won't sleep on his stomach because he has digestive problems.-
ANSWER:
Have either of you asked a dr about it? Surely there is something that can be done to help him out so that you can sleep. As far a a mouth guard, you can buy one at Wal-Mart in the Rx section.Hope this helps, and good luck!

QUESTION:
Sinus infection relief?
I've been sick for 5 days straight now, I started on Thursday sick with the Flu. When I got rid of the Flu, I got strep throat/sinus infection (symptoms: Burning throat, runny nose, inflamed sinuses)Now, I could probably deal with this, but as a result of my inflamed sinuses I have sleep apnea now according to my mom. That's why I'm up at 4:55 AM typing this, because I don't want to go to sleep for fear of suffocation. Does anyone know of any kind of home remedy to sinus inflammation? It doesn't have to completely cure it, just relieve it enough to where I can get some sleep.
I've already tried taking a hot shower and it only relieves it so far as I stay in the shower, I also don't own a vaporizer.
Thx for the answers.

QUESTION:
Husband Snores Horribly-Best Earplugs for me?
Husband snores horribly every night whether sleeping on side or back. He knows he snores, figures he has sleep apnea but won't do anything to remedy the situation. I have no place in the house to go to for sleep-bungalow, small home. I VASTLY enjoy when I go out of town and have a hotel to sleep in as I typically go by myself to things but obviously I can't live in a hotel. Are there any earplugs that might be of help? I typically can get to sleep if I beat him to bed but wake up a few hours later and cant get back to sleep for hours. Ideas? We have been married for over 20 years now, he knows he snores but has stated that it is what it is....-
ANSWER:
If you divorce there will be no more snoring, right? And that can be what it be. j/p. umm how about regular earplugs and do something, reading is ideal, before going to bed. That way you will be too tired to do anything BUT sleep! Good Luck!Oh yeah, have you tried that thing you put over their noses? Maybe that'll help!
