There are many different causes of snoring, but the most common one is tongue interference. This happens when the tongue is in the way of the back of the throat, interfering with airflow from the mouth to the lungs. As the tongue vibrates against the back of the throat, it causes and annoying and loud vibration. If this is the cause of your snoring, there are many different ways to go about fixing it. The first thing to try is rolling over onto your side. When you do this, your tongue moves around with your body, away from the back of your throat and to the side of your mouth. While this may result in a pool of drool on your pillow when you wake up, at least you'll be sleeping soundly enough to be drooling in the first place.
Other causes of snoring have different remedies, but since the tongue factor is so prevalent, I'll discuss it a bit more. Another thing you can try is a specially designed pillow that will reposition your head and neck in such a way that your tongue will be away from the back of your throat. Easily obtained online, these pillows cost around $50 and work like a charm for most people. Still, if your tongue continues to get in the way, you may need to see your dentist. Your dentist can refer you to a specialist who will custom fit you for a mandibular advancement splint. These devices gently push your lower jaw forward and encourage your tongue to come forward as well. But buyer beware: these things can cost upward of $3,000.
Some of the other common causes of snoring include obesity and smoking. Any doctor will tell you that it's best for your health to maintain a normal weight and never smoke, but few will tell you that both can have a drastic impact on snoring.

QUESTION:
What causes snoring?
everytime i whould fall asleep my boyfriend whould wake me up and say im snoring. ive never snored before. whats causes it and how can i get rid of it?-
ANSWER:
If the airways in your nose and throat are narrowed during sleep, the air you inhale and exhale has to push its way through a smaller passage. This can create a “snoring” noise, mostly due to vibrations of loose tissue in the back of your throat.
Snorers often have too much throat and nasal tissue, or “floppy” tissue that is more prone to vibrate. The position of the tongue can also get in the way of smooth breathing, as can being overweight – extra fat tissue in the neck and throat can obstruct airways.Snore stop.My dad uses it and it works :]

QUESTION:
Is there any way to stop or reduce snoring?
My better half is starting to complain about my snoring. It's to the point where neither of us are sleeping well because I am getting poked, slapped, beaten and pushed on all night. Is there any easy way to reduce or stop whatever causes snoring?? I would like to get a good nights sleep and hopefully in the same bed!!!-
ANSWER:
I would talk to your doctor about the snoring because you need to be evaluated at a sleep disorder clinic...snoring can cause so many problems with your health and daily life that you may not have even noticed. For YOUR sake as well as your wifes do this please. Good luck and don't take this lightly. You can try some home remedies like those nasal strips, the stop snore throat spray, lose weight, sleep on your side,etc....but you still need to know if your blood oxygen level is dropping and also how much you may be sleep deprived because of this snoring.

QUESTION:
what causes snoring, and approx. what percentage of people snore?-
ANSWER:
What Causes Snoring?
Snoring occurs when the flow of air through the mouth and nose is physically obstructed. Air flow can be obstructed by a combination of factors, including:---Obstructed nasal airways: Some people snore only during allergy seasons or when they have a sinus infection. Deformities of the nose such as a deviated septum (a structural change in the wall that separates one nostril from the other) or nasal polyps can also cause obstruction.
---Poor muscle tone in the throat and tongue: Throat and tongue muscles can be too relaxed, which allows them to collapse and fall back into the airway. This can result from deep sleep, alcohol consumption and use of some sleeping pills. Normal aging causes further relaxation of these muscles.
---Bulky throat tissue: Being overweight can cause bulky throat tissue. Also, children with large tonsils and adenoids often snore.
---Long soft palate and/or uvula: A long soft palate or a long uvula (the dangling tissue in back of the mouth) can narrow the opening from the nose to the throat. When these structures vibrate and bump against one another, the airway becomes obstructed causing snoring.
---Health Risks Associated With Snoring
Habitual snorers can be at risk for serious health problems, including obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep apnea creates several problems, including:---Long interruptions of breathing (more than 10 seconds) during sleep caused by partial or total obstruction or blockage of the airway.
---Frequent waking from sleep, even though you may not realize it.
---Light sleeping. People with obstructive sleep apnea sleep lightly to try to keep their throat muscles tense enough to maintain airflow.
---Strain on the heart. Prolonged suffering from obstructive sleep apnea often results in higher blood pressure and may cause enlargement of the heart, with higher risks of heart attack and stroke.
---Poor night's sleep. This leads to drowsiness during the day and can interfere with your quality of life.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE THAT SNORE:
Most people who snore while sleeping are breathing through their mouth; the percentage is most likely 99.9% sleeping with their mouths open. When a person breathe only through their nose with mouth closed, it is much harder to make a snoring sound.http://www.lifemana.com/stop-snoring.html
--------------------------------------------------------------------
How many people habitually snore is difficult to pin down, but epidemiological surveys indicate that the number may be high, affecting an estimated 30 percent of women and 40 percent of men. Moreover, the percentage of people who snore increases as people age."Most snoring questionnaires depend on patients being aware of their own snoring, which may not be the case," said Dr. Wendell G. Yarbrough, assistant professor in the division of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at UNC. "In any event, subjective snoring often goes underreported."

QUESTION:
What causes snoring? It is so annoying and keeps me up all night.?
My hubs snores so loud, I can't sleep. What is causing him to snore like this and is there a cure for snoring. Can it be that he his slightly over weight? I am a light sleeper so any noise will keep me up all night. Between my dog and my hubs I don't know who snores the loudest. I have pinched his nose moved him to sleep on his side but the snoring continues and gets louder. I keep telling him to go see a doctor and let them do a sleep study test because sometimes he stops breathing then continues breathing. I can see his stomach working so hard when he sleeps. I was thinking of getting ear plugs but I like to be able to hear my daughter if she cries. Any suggestions to help me with this agonizing problem will be appreciated.-
ANSWER:
The causes of snoring: Identify the cause to find the cure
Have you ever sneezed one day from allergies then sneezed another day from a bad cold? Snoring is like that. In other words, not all snoring is the same. Everyone snores for different reasons. When we get to the bottom of why we snore, then we can find the right solutions to a quieter, deeper sleep.Being overweight or out of shape. Fatty tissue and poor muscle tone contribute to snoring.
Alcohol, smoking, and medications. Alcohol intake, smoking (or second-hand smoke), and certain medications, increase muscle relaxation leading to more snoring.
Sleep posture. Sleeping flat on your back causes the flesh of your throat to relax and block the airway.
Snoring and sleep apnea
Snoring could indicate sleep apnea, a potentially life-threatening condition that requires medical attention. Sleep apnea is a breathing obstruction, causing the sleeper to awaken to begin breathing again. A person with sleep apnea wakes up many times a night to regain breathing, but usually doesn’t remember it. Serious risks of sleep apnea include sleep deprivation, oxygen deprivation, and depression.Read: Sleep Apnea
Don’t let snoring damage your relationship
Is snoring causing a riff in your relationship? No matter how much you love each other, lack of sleep can strain a relationship and put your health at risk. Though some snoring is harmless, other times it can indicate poor quality sleep as well as critical health problems such as sleep apnea.Sharing a bed is one of the greatest pleasures of a romantic relationship because it fosters intimacy and closeness. Bedding down for the night should be a pleasant part of the evening that you and your partner look forward to. However, snoring can create a huge relationship roadblock because it prevents this joint end-of-day ritual. When snoring is a problem, relationship tension grows in the following ways.
Sleeping alone. If your partner snores, you might decide to sleep alone. That only makes for a lack of physical intimacy and a strained relationship. And if you’re the one snoring, you might feel lonely, isolated, and frustrated about something you feel you can’t control.
Snoring spats. It’s common to be irritable when lack of sleep is an issue. But try reining in your frustration. Remember, you want to attack the snoring problem—not your sleep partner.
Partner resentment. Partner resentment can grow when a non-snorer feels they do everything possible to sleep through the night (ear-plugs, noise-machines) but their partner does nothing to combat their own snoring. Working as a team to self-remedy will prevent future fights.
If you value your relationship, make it your priority to solve snoring so you can sleep together. Think of it like this: the way you and your bed buddy handle a snoring problem is a sign of the strength of your relationship. Working together to stop snoring can be an opportunity to improve the quality of your bond and become more connected. Troubleshoot to stop snoring
So you’ve tried different sleeping positions and you still suffer from noisy nights? Try the following self-help tips.Lose weight. Losing even a little bit of weight can reduce fatty tissue in the back of the throat and decrease snoring. See Healthy Weight Loss Your Way for some tips on getting started. Exercise in general can help because toning arms, legs, and abs inadvertently leads to toning muscles you don’t see in the throat, which leads to less snoring.
Clear nasal passages. Having a stuffy nose makes inhalation difficult and creates a vacuum in your throat, which in turn leads to snoring. You can do it naturally with a Neti pot or try nasal decongestants or nasal strips to help you breathe more easily while sleeping.
Quit smoking. If you smoke, your chances of snoring are high. Smoking causes airways to be blocked by irritating the membranes in the nose and throat.
Establish regular sleep patterns. Create a bedtime ritual with your partner and stick to it. Hitting the sack in a routine way together can promote better sleep and therefore minimize snoring.
Keep bedroom air moist with a humidifier. Dry air can irritate membranes in the nose and throat.
Reposition. Elevating your head four inches may ease breathing and encourage your tongue and jaw to move forward. (Tip: go pillow-free or try a specially designed pillow to make sure your neck muscles are not crimped).

QUESTION:
What are the causes of snoring?
I never used to snore, but my mother told me that she can hear me snoring from my room. I'm , assuming this may have to do with the fact I'm still overweight, 260.-
ANSWER:
Yes, overweight, you've hit the jackpot, my friend! Snoring can also be caused by a deviated nasal septum or something else restricting the flow of air through the nose, an oversized uvula (the thing hanging down in the back of your throat) or soft palate (the soft part of the roof of your mouth), enlarged or swollen tonsils or adenoids, and (if you're a teen-aged drinker or doper) poor muscle tone in the throat muscles. But, since this didn't always happen and you are very overweight, then the reason is almost surely that excess fat has made the tissue in your throat bulkier, restricting air flow and making it easier for the passage to collapse and close.w

QUESTION:
Question about snoring solutions. I saw a video with a procedure in which the Dr. basically took a needle?
and used it to insert a very small and thin piece of steel or metal (about an inch long maybe, sort of like a needle) into the soft palate of the mouth. It stabilizes the soft palate or stiffens it just a bit to eliminate the vibration that causes snoring. Can't remember the name of the procedure. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I want to look into it more but don't know how to find the info again.

ANSWER:
in my opinion you shouldn't only consider this tip only you don't know if its going to work for you
you should better find out why you actually snore and start curing it with the right exercises and products if necessary, probably snoring is a common thing between people because of :
1- getting older.
2- alcohol drinking, smoking, taking medications before sleeping.
3- eating diary products before sleeping.
4- not following a healthy sleeping routine.
5- being out of shape and having a big stomach.
6- eating rich meals such as cookies.
7- sleeping on you back.take look at your activities every day and consider which one exactly you should fix you'll find it too easy to cure and you'll get some extra results a bonus of eating healthy food for example and sleeping well every day

QUESTION:
what are the new stop snoring techniques?
What are some other ways to end snoring?
Are there ways to end snoring without surgery?
Are there any cures for snoring?
What are the main causes of snoring?-
ANSWER:
It is very important that he be checked by having a sleep study to see if he has sleep apnea.Snoring is often a sign. My son snored very heavily. I have sleep apnea and recommended he be checked. He did indedd have it and it was discovered he stopped breathing 85 times an hour. Untreated sleep apnea is very dangerous and greatly increses one risk of stroke and heart attacks and it is responsible --this sleep drivation (often you wake up repeatedly but don't know it as you do not wake to conscious many timnes but only out of the deeper levels of restorative sleep. Often apnea patients are sleepy or fatiqued but my son was neither.
One old way they stopped snoring was to sew a ball of yarn or attack a tennis ball to the back of a shirt or pj top. this keeps people off their back (when most snoring occurs) and on their side or face down.
If he is diagnosed with sleep apnea, he will be put on a c-pap, bipap or auto bipap (auto is the best) and if they set it at the right pressure, the snoring will stop.
If he does not have sleep apnea, yet snores, they sell some kind of snore strips that one puts on their nose to hold the nostrils wider which is sold at the drug store. sometimes nasal sprays that open up the airwaves help.

QUESTION:
what causes of snoring ? How i get cure from this?
For healths solution.-
ANSWER:
1. WeightBecause of inactive life, physiological problems and too rich foods, people are more at risk of developing conditions that lead to snores. It is widely known that overweight people are more likely to snore than those who are not. It happens because they have bulky neck that can hinder the air passage. If this is the cause of your snoring habit, then you should lose some weight.
2. Alcohol
When you take alcoholic substances, you will make your muscle abnormal. Simply stop consuming alcohol for your own benefit.
3. Smoking
Smoking will change your throat cells that will cause mucus build up to make room for the smoke and nicotine passing through the tract without causing inflammation. However, due to the abnormal release of mucus, the mucous membranes in the throat and the esophagus will swell, causing obstructions in the small vessels in the lungs.
4. Sleep pattern
There are two fundamental stages of sleep that can affect your general breathing during the night. The Stage 1 is considered to be the stage when one has just fallen to sleep. It will repeat when sleep is disturbed by any stimuli. The other stage is the REM Sleep (Rapid Eye Movement Sleep) in which dreams occur.
A person who snores is most likely to have unbalanced breathing during sleeping. This may be due to the noise or the frequent grunts coming from his or her bed partner.
It is best to establish a good sleeping habit so that breathing can be regulated. All you need is 8 hours of sleep, therefore create the best possible environment so that you might get everything your body requires.
It is also a common knowledge that those who sleep on their backs usually have snore more often than those who sleep on their sides. Coupled with the pull of gravity on the tongue and throat muscles, sleeping on the back creates more restful positions for the throat. Thus, if there were any floppy flesh hanging around, it is likely that the air that passes through the tract would push the relaxed muscles upward.
Sleeping at an elevated position would also provide you some relief. 30 degrees must be the elevation so that the diaphragm would be relaxed and that the tongue would be kept from falling back.
5. Medical Problems
Any cause of throat blockage can be a threat to your quiet sleep. Allergies and other irritation on its tissues can cause swelling or inflammation. Large adenoids, large tonsils, excess mass on the throat and modification in the construction of the cells can block the air passage. For these, you probably want to consult a doctor to undertake surgery.

Your nights don’t have to be noisy! Read on to learn more about the possible causes of your snoring as well as treatment options. If you can uncover the cause of your snoring, you should be able to find a cure that is right for you.
The causes of snoring
Where does the snore sound come from?Snoring is caused by a narrowing of your airway, either from poor sleep posture or abnormalities of the soft tissues in your throat. A narrow airway gets in the way of smooth breathing and creates the sound of snoring.
People who snore often have too much throat and nasal tissue, or “floppy” tissue that is more prone to vibrate. The position of the tongue can also get in the way of smooth breathing. Evaluating how and when you snore will help you pinpoint whether the cause of your snoring is within your control or not. Enlist your sleep partner or keep a sleep diary to help you determine the possible cause of your snoring
Tip: The way you snore may reveal why you snore! If you snore
* With your mouth closed: a problem with the tongue is probably the culprit
* With your mouth open: your snoring is likely related to the tissues in your throat
* Only on your back: your snoring is probably mild – improved sleep habits and lifestyle changes may be effective cures
* In all sleep positions: your snoring is more severe and may require a more comprehensive treatmentCauses and Risk Factors of Snoring
Causes out of our control Causes within our control* Heredity - A narrow throat, a cleft palate, enlarged adenoids and other physical attributes which contribute to snoring can be hereditary.
* Being middle-aged or beyond - As you age, your throat becomes narrower, and the muscle tone in your throat decreases.
* Being male - Men have narrower air passages than women and are more likely to snore.
* Allergies, asthma, a cold, or sinus infections - Blocked airways make inhalation difficult and create a vacuum in the throat, leading to snoring* Being overweight or out of shape - Fatty tissue and poor muscle tone contribute to snoring.
* A history of smoking – Smoking (or exposure to second-hand smoke) relaxes muscles and creates nasal congestion.
* Alcohol or medications - Alcohol and medications increase muscle relaxation leading to more snoring.
* Sleeping posture - Sleeping flat on your back allows the flesh of your throat to relax and block the airway.Snoring problems and relationships
Snoring can get in the way of a good night’s sleep and a healthy relationship with your spouse or partner. Many couples affected by snoring resort to sleeping in separate bedrooms in order to get a good night’s sleep. This arrangement may help both people sleep better, but it can disrupt communication and intimacy.
Mild snoring that isn't related to sleep apnea responds well to home remedies. Finding a cure for your snoring problem can result in an improved quality of life for you and your loved ones.

Our relationship has turned soured over this issue as I told him straight in the face that I'm extremely irritated to be disturbed repeatedly in the middle of the night while he says he just can't get to sleep!!!-
ANSWER:
As you doze off and progress from a lighter sleep to a deep sleep, the muscles in the roof of your mouth (soft palate), tongue and throat relax. If the tissues in your throat relax enough, they vibrate and may partially obstruct your airway. The more narrowed your airway, the more forceful the airflow becomes. Tissue vibration increases, and your snoring grows louder.
Although in itself snoring is not necessarily dangerous, it may be a symptom of sleep apnea or other sleep disorders --Sleep apnea is usually obstructive; that is, the breathing passage is blocked between the nose and the voice box. If sleep apnea is severe enough, the oxygen in the bloodstream which is reaching the brain and other vital organs may fall to dangerous levels.
It is important to see your MD to discuss the treatments that are available.
Almost all treatment for snoring revolves around clearing the blockage in the breathing passage. This is the reason snorers are advised to lose weight (to stop fat from pressing on the throat), to stop smoking (smoking weakens and clogs the throat), and to sleep on their side (to prevent the tongue from blocking the throat). One method of treatment is not the answer for all patients with snoring and/or sleep apnea, and more than one treatment modality may be required. Some good sites..

QUESTION:
Can stress cause snoring?
Can increased stress in one's life be a cause of snoring? I know someone who has recently (within the last year) begun snoring a lot, and I know that he is experiencing a lot of stress right now.-
ANSWER:
Not directly. A lot of snoring results from not getting enough rest, or from being very tired. If your stress is contributing to your restlessness, it is indirectly causing the snoring.

QUESTION:
What is the cause of snoring when sleeping and how can it be stopped?-
ANSWER:
Sleep Apnea is one main reason people snore. If it too bad you could be hurting yourself by not getting enough sleep. Tell your doctor--especially if you feel tired throughout the day. There is help available for this. I use a CPAP machine which helps. It blows air in your nose to keep the airway open and resolves the snoring problem too.

QUESTION:
What can I do to my side of the wall to keep from hearing the loudest MFing snoring from the other side.?
This guy is a big ass samoan dude on the heavy side, who happens to be my brother in law...lol. Right now I have to "neutralize" the snoring by placing my outdated 300mhz p2, 3ft tall tower next to the wall. I don't even use it other than to battle the snoring...which doesnt work cause the snoring is straight up in the bass frequency range (super long range prenetration). I cant chop his head off, or wish him dead, so I have to find another method. Can I hang a poster sized sheet of Dynamat? Can a smaller piece of dynamat soundproof a larger area or does it have to cover the actual area the sound is transmitted through. Any cheap methods? Keeping it thin is a plus! I don't know how women friggin' stay asleep...unless its a thing only female physiology can handle...like childbirth?
I hate wearing earplugs. My ears get all sweaty eventually and I cant sleep from the noise bouncing around in my head, whatever that is, you know, you can hear yourself breathing loud. Any sound engineers out there?-
ANSWER:
Perhaps a large fan, blowing at high speed will drown out his snores? It works with my spouse. Sometimes I do have to concentrate of the fan noise rather than his noise, but it usually works.

QUESTION:
How can I stop my snoring?
Heres my story....Im tired of getting kicked, punched, and yelled at in bed for snoring lately. For my girlfriends sake I need to get some help with my snoring. Ive tried everything I can think of, to little to no avail.
Heres some info- Snoring wasnt a problem until the last year, and its progressivly getting worse.
- I sleep on my stomach, I always have.
- When I sleep on my back, I snore so bad I wake myself up.
- Ive tried Breathe Right strips
- Ive tried nasal spray
- Ive tried sleeping so my head isnt tilted down and constricting air flow.
- My girlfriend has tried moving to the couch, but, that doesnt stop my snoring.
- Over the last year Ive probably gained 20lbs. (Yes I know gaining weight can cause snoring, but, I dont think this is the problem)
Any ideas/home remedies anyone know that I can try? I appreciate it.
-
ANSWER:
Weight gain will definitely cause snoring, no point in thinking it happens to everyone, but not to you. Smoking is also not going to help. You may want to go to an ENT doctor and find out if you have some kind of obstruction. If you have had previous nose damage, this may be where part of your problem is. As well, when my husband snores, I turn him over, and cuddle him close. Works like a charm. It usually also works if he cuddles me, just so long as you are staying on your side. Also, go to bed as soon as you are tired. You will be sleep deprived from snoring, and staying up late is only going to exacerbate your trumpeting.

QUESTION:
Help......stop me snoring!!!!?
Please can any one recommend a snoring remedy for me?? I'm not bothered about it but I think it's going to be a race to see who kills me first....my boyfriend or my housemates!! I've tried nose strips, giving up smoking, losing weight, snoreease throat spray and sleeping on my side but always seem to end up flat on my back and waking the whole house up!!PS anyone know if certain medications can cause snoring? I've been on 40mg of citalopram for a year or so now...about the same length of time I've been snoring,
-
ANSWER:
well recently i went to the doctor becauseof my snoring. and learned i have sleep apnea. i think that anybody that snores should go. they run all these tests, and they give you this little machine to sleep with at night. they are quiet and prevents your from snoring. it's amazing because it helps you have SOOO much more energy in ther morning and you just feel like a different person. and sometimes when i sleep without it my friends say rarely snore.and btw if you don't know what sleep apnea is it's when you stop breathing in your sleep for about a 40(sc)-60(sc) or so for about every 30. min. if u want you could do more research. but that may not be your case, just a suggestion.

QUESTION:
What could cause sudden snoring?
I have never really snored that I know of but lately my husband says I snore all the time and really loud. I am wondering what could cause me to just all of a sudden start snoring. I am 41 and have gained a little weight in the last year but just wondering if that is all it is or if it could be something serious?-
ANSWER:
Are you stressed lately? How little was the gained weight? Since when have you've been snoring? Obesity is one factor that causes snoring. Stress also plays a part. Another, if you have respiratory problem. Observe for few more nights. Sleep stress-free. If there is still snoring, consult a doctor. For your snoring, change positions when sleeping. Sleep lying on your side to prevent obstruction of the airway.Good luck!

QUESTION:
what is the cause of snoring and how it can be elleminate?
even just a few second of time i fall sleep i made this sound that can bother somebody around me-
ANSWER:
Snoring is caused by irregular airflow in your throat, normally because of blockage due to one of the following:
-throat weakness (causing your throat to close during sleep)
-Obstruction in the nasal passageway
-Fat around the throat and neck
-Mispositioned jawIf you smoke this may be contributing to your snoring as it can block your airway passage thus making sounds due to obstructed air movement when sleeping. It is best to sleep on your side to help open up your airway passage aswell. There are many snoring treatments that are sold over the counter but most do not cure snoring completely. You may also try:
-Loosing weight and improve eating habits
-Anti snore pillows are specially made pillows that are shaped to help open up the airway in your throat and nose.
-Anti snore sprays
- Anti snoring mouth piece which works by moving the lower jaw forward during sleep to open up air passage ways.
-Avoid tranquilizers, sleeping pills etc. before bed
-Tilt the head of your bed up
It really all depends on what is causing your snoring. If none of these work there is always surgury but it is best to talk to your doctor about other alternatives first.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

QUESTION:
Nasal congestion causing snoring - help!?
During the winter months when we have the heat turned on - I get very stuffed up, especially at night. We have had our vents and ducts cleaned. I have an air purifier on my side of the bed. A humidifier only makes me more stuffed up, just less thick I guess (tmi, hah).
I have a feeling it is dander from our pets coming through the vents, as I am allergic to all 4 of them. Either that or dust. Typically my allergies dont bother me much unless the animals are all over me for long periods of time.
Is there anything I can use, sprays or anything to keep me from getting congested? I don't take allergy pills usually, and prefer not to, but I would if it would help.
My partner is tired of hearing me snore and I am tired of feeling like I've got a massive head cold every morning and having phlegm and mucous all the time in the winter.
Forgot to mention I have also got asthma. But since I have gotten older I don't need meds anymore - except the odd shot here and there when I have a really hard time breathing. It's fairly well controlled now.-
ANSWER:
You might want to try breathe right strips on your nose at night. They don't stop your sinuses from getting filled but they do help to open you up a bit. I would keep the humidifier because it probably is helping a little. Also, what kind of air purifier are you using? Some of them make the dust settle on the floor and furniture, which would mean you have to vacuum the floor AND the bed every couple of days to keep the dander away.

My mom can never sleep at night because my freaking dad snores so loud!
almost every night my mom has to go into our guest bedroom because she cant sleep.
I feel so bad for her because she is always tired,

have your dad sleep on his side or wear breathing strips. if that doesn't help i know my friend's dad had some sort of snoring machine that the dr gave him because he had a bad case of it. so maybe your dad could talk to his dr about it.
for me, sometimes putting a pillow on top of my head while i sleep helps but i've never had to sleep with someone who snores very loudly.

QUESTION:
What is the most common cause of snoring?-
ANSWER:
There are numerous causes of snoring. It is usually an airway problem. In other words, the tissue in the back of your throat that hangs down is called the uvula. If this drops down to far it blocks your airway. So when you sleep it vibrates causing snoring. If you are having trouble snoring you should go and get a sleep study done to see what' s going on.
