Most of us have, at some point or another, had to sleep with a snoring partner. These sleep partners are no fun, they snore all night long, pokes, prods, shoves, and even loud noises do not wake them from their rather deep sleep! However, today, there are many anti-snoring devices available in the market, so you can opt for any one, and ensure that you get a good night's rest.
There are the mouthpiece devices, which are also called dental appliances, or mandibular advancement splints. They have proved effective for people who suffer from snoring and mild or moderate obstructive sleep apnea. So what are these devices and how do they work? Well, they are small plastic devices, which is worn in the mouth; they prevent the soft throat tissues from collapsing and obstructing the airway. How do these devices work? They work by bringing your lower jaw forward, and by lifting your soft palate. In fact, some anti-snoring devices can even prevent the tongue from falling back over the airway.
You can purchase anti-snoring mouthpieces online or over-the-counter. These mouthpieces are basically boil and bite devices in which the plastic provided should be softened with warm water before placing into the mouth. You will then bite on the appliance, which will create a mold of your jaw. You can try this option to see if this solves your snoring problem. It might be non-effective in treating snoring and sleep apnea problems.
Some of these anti-snoring devices include the AveoTSD (which is a tongue-stabilizing device, made from soft silicone. This works by holding the tongue forward during sleep, thus keeping the airways open). The Nose Breathe Mouthpiece For Heavy Snorers (helps you breathe through your nose). The Oasys Oral/Nasal System (a mandibular repositioner which treats snoring and sleep apnea, it also acts as a nasal dilator to improve breathing). The Pro Snore Control Appliance, an anti-snoring device, which is custom-made and created from an impression of your lower teeth. The Noiselezz Mouthpiece, a plastic device from Denmark that works by holding your jaw forward.
Other anti-snoring devices one could try are the Silencer (which fits on your upper and lower teeth, and holds your jaw forward). The Silent Partner ASD (this positions your lower jaw a little forward). The SnorBan US, this costs much less, and is a mouth guard that you can fit yourself. However, if you are looking for anti-snoring devices that are comfortable to sleep with and more effective, you can do so by visiting a trained professional. These devices are a one-piece device that sits on the upper jaw, custom made for each individual and used to treat snoring, TMJ problems and mild to severe sleep apnea. These anti-snoring devices have been proven effective, with a higher rate if success in patients who are treated.
Studies in Switzerland have found that oral anti-snoring devices can be very effective in treating sleep apnea. Some mild side effects of over-the-counter devices may include mucosal dryness, tooth discomfort, excessive salivation and joint problems. But oral anti-snoring devices have reduced snoring loudness for over 84 percent of the subjects they were tested on.

QUESTION:
Using dental adhesive for a anti-snoring device?
Anyone try this?I use an anti snoring device which works great, but falls out of my mouth occasionally.
Would it be safe to use fixodent or another type of adhesive to keep it in?
Are those adhesives safe on teeth?
Thanks!!

ANSWER:
You could try it, but it probably won't work. You should take the device back to the dentist and have him add acrylic to the intaglio surface. If it's a thermoformed acrylic, then you'll have to send it back to the lab with an impression.

QUESTION:
Has anyone found an anti-snoring method/device that really works?
My husband snores, a lot... He is a mouth breather, which causes more snoring, when he rolls onto his back it is the worst. He doesn't just stop breathing like with apnea, but sometimes his tongue falls back in his throat cutting off his breathing momentarily, so he adjusts, and then is soon snoring again! We've tried the sprays, mouth rinse, breathing strips, humidifiers, herbs, everything affordable. I don't want to invest -0+ into a device and then have it not work. Any advice?-
ANSWER:
The problem is no one really know what will help. The last option is getting a surgery of try hypnosis. That may help. Have you been to your medical specialist? If not than maybe you should do so. They can do some test for sure if its apear to be sleep apnea. As we all know this can be very bad for health.Check out the recurce under.

QUESTION:
Has anyone used the "My Sleep Solution" Anti-snoring device?
It goes around your head and holds your mouth shut. Does it really work, is it worth 70 dollars?-
ANSWER:
That does not sound right somehow. That sounds like it could be dangerous in fact. What if the nose was blocked?!!! No I don't think it is worth investing in as I think it sounds dangerous potentially.Try a pillow behind the back to stop you rolling onto your back in sleep. Most snoring occurs when you are on your back. Try two pillows instead of one to keep the head raised. Try Olbas oil on the edge of the pillows to keep airways open. Lose weight if overweight by taking up more exercise and restricting fatty/sugary snacks and stop smoking if you smoke. Being overweight and smoking are linked to snoring.
As a last resort see a dentist about a mouth/snore guard as that is better to invest in as it is supposed to work.
Best wishes.

QUESTION:
questions on the snoring and apnea devices?
I was diagnosed with sleep apnea last year after having 2 sleep study testing done , I got put on a cpap machine and tried every mask u could Imaging. I would pull it off somewhere thew the night. I went to see the sleep dr last week and he said that i have a very mild case of apnea and would like me to try this anti snore shirt from rem-a- tee. Its a belt that wraps around as high as you can get it under your arms and comfortable and snug as you can get it with three pouches in the back your blow up theses 3 inflatable bumpers and put them in each pouch, u have to lay on your side, and it stops u from rolling on to your back , and if u do roll on it in a deep sleep your back is in so much pain the next day and your hip hurts to, i been doing some searching on the computer for other devices, there's 2 that im checking out ones a mouth piece that u use which some people say hurts your lower jaw,, than there this one its called the jaw strap where you wear it strap over head and jaw both have testimonies that said they work? does anyone have this problem and ran into anything that didn't hurt are annoyed you like the cpap machine and all that crap on your face.-
ANSWER:
If you doctor recommended that you use the tee shirt to help your problem, I would guess that you must have sleep apnea more while sleeping on your back. If that is the case, then the tee shirt is the absolute easiest solution for you.Try to stick with it for awhile and you will quit trying to roll onto your back so much, which is causing you to ache the next day.

QUESTION:
I have a crazy sleep problem, what do you think it is?
Almost 1 year ago I started making a clicking noise in my sleep. Not a snore or a breathing noise, but like a clicking noise from the back of the throat. I've never actually heard this noise because I'm asleep when it happens. I've only heard immitations from my boyfriend. I tried to tape it, but can never catch it. I have NO idea what's causing it. I tried all kinds of nasal sprays, cough drops, anti-snoring devices and sleeping positions. Nothing works. I had allergies for a few years and recently saw a doctor for that. He gave me a prescription nose spray and the allergies are pretty much gone. I though that the allergies could be the cause of the clicking, but the clicking is only getting worse. Right now, I don't have insurance, so going to doctor after doctor is expensive. I moved into an old house 1.5 years ago. Could it be something in the air that's making me sick or some kind of sleeping disorder or mental problem I got out of the blue for no apparent reason?-
ANSWER:

For those who can't tolerate the CPAP machine has anyone had success with any other...?
...anti-snoring devices?
Hi, I have a CPAP machine for a mile case of sleep apnea but it isn't very comfortable. I'm wondering if anyone would recommend any of the other devices available such as a mouthpiece, chin strap, special pillow, or any other device or method you may have tried? Thanks-
ANSWER:
you can start to investigate. But definitely talk to your primary care doc, and anyone who would have been involved with your original sleep study. There are different reasons for apnea so narrowing that down, would help you narrow down your best alternative/s.http://www.alternativetocpap.com/ has the journal reference for the original research that suggested there were other things that could be done

One thing for sure, though is to remember that sleep apnea is a potentially LIFE THREATENING condition, and NOT 'just snoring'.

QUESTION:
How to encourage an investor?
Have invented anti-snoring device that really works-
ANSWER:
The best thing you can do for yourself is to make several trial samples of your product (after you have applied for a patent). Once you have your testing products made, distribute them to those people that you are familiar with. have them test the product to convince them that it works. hopefully at this point they will be convinced and help fund your endeavor. Otherwise have them help you expand to new investors. If you don't like this approach, than one of the more profitable (and method with less overhead) is to submit your product to a major corporation such as P&G or Johnson and Johnson. If your product is going to be successful in the market, and if there is a demand for it, one of these companies will buy it up in a heart beat.
Good Luck!

QUESTION:
Keeping dental device in at night?
I bought an anti-snore mouthpiece, and it works WONDERS! That is, until it falls out of my mouth when I'm asleep.Would it be ok to use some kind of adhesive product like Polident to help keep it on my teeth so it doesnt fall out?
Is polident safe when exposed to teeth?
Thanks!!
-
ANSWER:
Do not apply adhesives or anything else to your anti snore appliance because it will be a BIG mess. The way to stop it from falling out is to train yourself to not spit it out while asleep and all you need to do is to put it in about an hour or so before going to bed until the appliance stays in your mouth all night.
